Learn to make your own striped, multicolored, crazy socks!
This class is for those of you who have never made a sock but want to learn. Socks are great for travel and/or summer knitting and they are fun!
Homework will be required prior to class: you will cast on at home and knit the leg/ankle portion of the sock before the first class meeting. This will allow us to maximize our time together. Don't worry - we'll send you instructions well in advance!
In class, you will learn to turn the heel, measure for the correct length of your foot, shape the toe, and Kitchener stitch the toe together to finish off your very first sock. Don't know how to knit with DPNs (double pointed needles) in the round? Sign up for our Knitter's Toolbox - Small Circumference Knitting class (5/21/22 at 9am).
Must know how to cast on, knit, purl, bind off, and work a small circumference in the round
Pattern will be provided
You will need: ** US size 1 double pointed needles (DPNs required for this class so everyone is using the same method of small circumference knitting) ** One skein of sock weight yarn (we require that your yarn be purchased at Yarns in the Farms - come in to pick out your skein and you'll get a 10% discount on it)
Louise is knitter, spinner, and aspiring weaver who lives in Topsfield, Massachusetts. Her work is inspired by her Norwegian heritage, which has been passed down to her by generations of Norwegian grandmothers. She loves to continue to learn Scandinavian techniques and is currently learning the art of plukkband, weaving Nordic decorative bands that add the finishing touch to a traditional Norwegian kofte (cardigan).
