Beginner Summer Top - Anker's Summer Shirt
If you've never made a sweater or tried and weren't successful, this class is for you! This super popular summer tee is a great intro to sweater knitting for the newbies out there.
This top-down tee shirt is a fantastic wardrobe staple that you'll reach for over and over all summer. And when a pattern has over 6,000 projects affiliated with it on Ravelry, you know it's a good one.
Learn:
- about gauge
- fit and positive vs negative ease
- how to make a top down sweater
Meet new people and have a fabulous summer top by the end!
Prior to the first class, please knit and block a gauge swatch out of your chosen yarn so we can jump right in. (Don't know what we're talking about? Don't worry, you'll get instructions on how to do this before the first class!)
We have several yarns that will work great for this sweater!
Sandnes Garn Line is what the pattern calls for but Spree from Berroco and Cotton Comfort from Green Mountain Spinnery are also excellent choices.
We ask that you purchase your yarn from Yarns in the Farms for this class - you'll get a 10% discount when you do!
You can find the pattern for this top on Ravelry HERE.
The dates are spread out around Memorial Day weekend and are structured in a way that we have found works great for ensuring everyone has time to knit but also gets their questions answered in a timely manner.
Masks will NOT be required for this class but are most certainly welcome.
A minimum of 3 participants is required for this class to run - bring a friend!
Skill Level: | Beginner |
Skill Details: | Must know how to cast on, bind off, knit, purl, increase, and decrease. |
Instructor: | Tracy |
Instructor Bio: | Tracy's been at Yarns in the Farms for over eight years now - how time flies. Her aunt taught her to knit when she was a teenager and she really only started making sweaters about 5 years ago. Her annual Christmas hat tradition just keeps growing, which means she should really start knitting them in July but still hasn't learned her lesson. Half her handknits can be found residing at the shop at any given time and someday her unfinished WIP bin will be empty (maybe?). |
