Easy Color with Mosaic Knitting - Pressed Flowers Cowl

Did you know you can make a 2-color, graphic pattern in a knitted project without having to knit with both colors in every row?

Mosaic knitting is one of the craft's best kept secrets! Using a combination of knit/purl stitches with slipped stitches in every row, you can achieve a colorwork look without too much fuss.

The "Pressed Flowers" projects by Amy Christoffers have taken the knitting universe by storm. Her original shawl pattern was so wildly popular that she added a hat, cardigan, and cowl to the collection!

In this class, you'll make the 28" version of the Pressed Flowers Cowl. This bite sized project is perfect for warm weather knitting and for popping on before you head out on that chilly morning walk before the day heats up.

This is a great class for colorwork beginners! Once you have mosaic knitting in your toolbox, you'll want to try out even more ways of adding color to your projects (like stranded knitting!).

You'll learn:
- mosaic colorwork, knit flat
- slipping stitches
- how to read a chart
- mattress stitch (for finishing)

You'll need:
Pressed Flowers Cowl pattern (available on Ravelry)
- 2 contrasting colors of sport or DK weight yarn (175 yds of main color, 150 yards of contrast color)
- US size 6 needle
- stitch markers (if desired)
- darning needle

Homework:
Please cast on and knit the first row in your main color prior to the first class

Louise is still mulling over her yarn choices but a glance at the Ravelry projects for this cowl will give you some great ideas. We're partial to the super colorful ones that use a yarn like Edition 3 or Starke 6  from Shoppel Wolle for the contrast yarn. It's Spring, show off your fun side!

We request you purchase your yarns, needles (that you don't already have), etc. at Yarns in the Farms for this class. Mention you're enrolled in class and receive a 10% discount on your materials.
