Kunzite KAL
Tracy is hosting a sparkly, holiday season sweater Knit-A-Long (KAL)!
She fell hard for this sweater - Kunzite - when we were at the tradeshow in the Spring and we knew it would be a perfect Fall project so you can be holiday party ready.
This is an intermediate level project and a knit-a-long, as opposed to a class with instruction. Please refer to the requirements before you sign up to be sure you'll be comfortable knitting this project. Help is available during the meet-ups but full instruction is not. Come make a beautiful sweater and hang out with other knitters while you do so!
The KAL is free of charge but your materials MUST be purchased at Yarns in the Farms. Please register for your seat so we know how many people to expect.
The yarn for this project is Gimlet from Berroco, a light, lofty, bulky-weight blend of cotton, alpaca, and wool, with a smidge of polyester/polyamide thrown in for sparkle and durability.
Sadly, we don't have room on the shelves for this yarn so we're doing this KAL a little differently - we're going to drop ship you the exact number of balls you need - in your chosen color - direct from the vendor!
We have a sample ball and swatch of every color at the shop so you can choose your color in real life - we have also added Gimlet to our webshop so you can preview colors there if you like (click the link for easy access - ordering is available there as well).
Since it will take a few days to receive your yarn, we recommend signing up for the KAL and ordering your yarn by September 18th at the latest so you have enough time to make and block your swatch(es) prior to the first meeting on 9/23.
Materials needed:
- a copy of the pattern, found on Ravelry HERE
- US size 9 & 10 needles (or the size needed to obtain gauge)
- US size K crochet hook (for making sleeve bobbles)
- enough Gimlet yarn to make your chosen size
- stitch markers
- darning needle
We need at least 3 people to run this knit-a-long - encourage a friend to join us!
Can't make it to the knit-a-long meetings but still want to make this gorgeous sweater? We can order YOU the yarn too. Place your order on-line or come in to see us and we'll get you squared away!

Instructor: | Tracy |
Instructor Bio: | Tracy has been at Yarns in the Farms for over nine years now - how time flies. Her aunt taught her to knit when she was a teenager and she really only started making sweaters for herself 6 or 7 years ago. Her annual Christmas hat tradition just keeps growing, which means she should really start knitting them in July but she still has not learned her lesson. Half of Tracy's handknits can be found residing at the shop at any given time and someday her unfinished WIP bin will be empty (maybe?). |
