Curious About Cables

Join Louise to knit a stylish hat while mastering the fundamentals of cable knitting.
This class is perfect for knitters who are comfortable with basic stitches and are ready to level up their skills.
In this class, you will learn:
- how to read cable charts and written instructions
- working with a cable needle
- understanding cable structure and stitch manipulation
- tips for keeping your tension even and avoiding common mistakes
The workshop format of this class will allow us time for everyone to get comfortable with knitting cables and cover techniques and questions. You'll finish the hat on your own at home.
Materials needed:
- a copy of the Rhode Trip Hat pattern
- 150 yards of worsted-weight yarn
- US size 7 & 8 16" circular needles
- stitch markers
- cable needle
- tapestry needle
- a can-do attitude and a willingness to learn!
HOMEWORK REQUIRED PRIOR TO CLASS:
Please cast on for the adult large size hat and complete the ribbing prior to class so we can dive right in to the technique! The ribbing should be completed on a US size 7 16" needle to keep it neat and tidy.

Instructor Bio: | Louise is knitter, spinner, and aspiring weaver who lives in Topsfield, Massachusetts. Her work is inspired by her Norwegian heritage, which has been passed down to her by generations of Norwegian grandmothers. She loves to continue to learn Scandinavian techniques and is currently learning the art of plukkband, weaving Nordic decorative bands that add the finishing touch to a traditional Norwegian kofte (cardigan). |
