Create Your Own Cardigan

Let's get this out of the way up front - this class will involve swatching, trial and error, math, thinking, and decision making!
Ok, now that we have your attention...
Have you always wanted to create your own perfect sweater? Thought about tweaking a pattern you found on Ravelry to get just the sleeve or neckline you wanted? This is the class for you!
In this class, we'll be making the "Hack It Jacket" by Nina Ruth. Building on a basic raglan cardigan, you'll choose your own adventure and create a sweater that is as unique as you are.
Pick the "hacks" you want to include, leave out the ones you dislike - create a striped v-neck with classic sleeves, a cable front classic with a split hem, or a balloon-sleeved beauty with a tie neck. There are so many possible combinations!
The sweater is knit in a worsted to bulky yarn (with a gauge of 17 stitches and 27 rows to 4"), on a US size 8 needle.
For the first class, you will need:
- A copy of the pattern (available HERE on Ravelry)
- A notebook
- A pen/pencil
- A sweater from your closet that you love (doesn't have to be handmade!)
- A can-do attitude!
Since this in an involved project, we'll spend the first session talking about yarn choices, sizing, and choosing your hacks.
The following sessions will include:
- Session 2: discussion about gauge swatches & hack choices, necessary math, casting on, cables, and increases
- Session 3: picking up for sleeves and sleeve choices
- Session 4: picking up edges and edging options
- Session 5: finished fun - celebrating our gorgeous creations!
Most of this sweater will be knit at home, on your own, so you must be a proficient knitter capable of executing a variety of techniques on your own.
A minimum of 3 students is needed for this class to run - bring a friend! Class size is limited to 6 people.

| Instructor: | Tracy |
| Instructor Bio: | Tracy has been at Yarns in the Farms for over ten years now - how time flies. Her aunt taught her to knit when she was a teenager and she really only started making sweaters about 8 years ago. Her annual Christmas hat tradition just keeps growing, which means she should really start knitting them in July but she still has not learned her lesson. Half of Tracy's handknits can be found residing at the shop at any given time and someday her unfinished WIP bin will be empty (maybe?). |
