Giftables - Magical Mosaic Hat
Colorwork is so fun to look at and knit but can be intimidating. Mosaic knitting gives you the classic look of a stranded garment or accessory but you only use 1 color per row, making it easier than carrying 2 or more colors at a time. Come learn the ins and outs of this magical technique with Julia!
If you're comfortable with basic stitches and ready to level up your skills, this is the class for you. Learn how to read a mosaic chart and how to execute the stitches and make a fantastic hat ready for wearing or gifting this winter!
In this class you will learn:
- how to read written and charted a mosaic knitting pattern
- understanding the rhythm of the technique
- tips for keeping your tension even and avoiding common mistakes
There will be plenty of time for getting comfortable with mosaic knitting, covering techniques and questions. You'll finish your hat on your own at home.
Materials needed:
- a copy of the Find Your Way Beanie pattern by Mandi Coffeen
- 120 yards of Aran or bulky weight yarn in two colors
- US size 9 & 10 16" circular needles and US size 10 DPNs (or longer circular for magic loop for the top of the hat)
- stitch markers
- tapestry needle
- a can-do attitude and a willingness to learn!
HOMEWORK REQUIRED PRIOR TO CLASS:
Please cast on for the hat and complete the ribbing prior to class so we can dive right in to the technique!
