Beyond the Foundations of Knitting

You've made a plain knit project - hat, scarf, what have you - and you want to fancy up your knitting and know more about lace, cables, and colorwork? Come on over!

You're familiar with knitting and purling, casting on and binding off...
You've knit more simple designs but now those cabled hats and lacy shawls are calling out to you every time you see them.

It's time for Beyond Foundations!

In these three classes, you will learn about lace, cables, all sorts of colorwork, blocking, and finishing.

Class 1 will focus on lace and cables.
Class 2 will focus on colorwork (stripes, stranding, and intarsia!).
Class 3 will focus on blocking and finishing.

By the time you've completed these classes, you'll be ready to tackle those beautiful patterns you've had your eye on but didn't think you could manage.

There will be time during each session to get your questions answered and your technique squared away.

There will be homework/practice required after each class but there are 2 weeks in between meetings so you'll have plenty of time to get your stitches in! For these classes, you will have a choice of pattern after each one for your homework so you'll have 2 finished objects when you're through.

This is part 3 of a 3 part learn-to-knit series that we created. You do not have to have taken parts 1 or 2 in order to sign up for these classes but you do need to be confident in your skills with casting on, knitting, purling, binding off, increasing, decreasing, knitting in the round, and reading a pattern.

Want to be ready to whip up some gifts for the holiday season this year? We'll have you set up for success by the middle of October!

Classes will be held indoors, when the shop is closed for regular business.
All our instructors are fully vaccinated and we ask that students who sign up for these sessions be as well.
Masks will be required for all in attendance.
