Beginner Sweater - Felix (Pullover or Cardigan!)

7100+ knitters can't be wrong!

Amy Christoffers' Felix Pullover and Felix Cardigan patterns are a giant hit in the knitting world.

Join Tracy to make the Felix of your choice and have a sweater you can wear for the rest of the winter. No, really! A worsted/Aran weight yarn on size 10 needles means a sweater that will be done quickly and keep you snuggly warm on cold winter days.

Both sweaters are knit top-down and feature lovely eyelet detail along the raglan increase lines. The pullover is knit in the round and the cardigan is knit flat, sleeves for both are knit in the round.

There are 5 different sizes to choose from, 39" up to 57", and these sweaters are intended to be worn oversized. Both Felixes (Felixi?) are written cropped but since it's top down, you can make yours any length you want (though you'll need to remember to buy more yarn if you plan to make it longer!).

Learn:
- About gauge
- Fit and positive vs. negative ease
- How to make a top-down sweater (beginning at the ribbed neck edge)
- Short rows and why to use them (or not!)
- Tubular cast on

Meet new people and have fabulous sweater by the end!

We have a lot of yarns that will work great for this sweater!
Tracy will be using Blue Sky Fibers Woolstok Tweed  but we also have Green Mountain Spinnery Mountain Mohair, Istex Lettlopi, and Berroco Mercado which are all recommended by the designer. We ask that you purchase your yarn from Yarns in the Farms for this class - you'll get a 10% discount on class supplies when you do!

Prior to the first class, please knit and block a gauge swatch out of your chosen yarn so we can jump right in. (Don't know what we're talking about? Don't worry, you'll get instructions on how to do this before the first class!)

You can find the patterns on Ravelry: Felix Pullover/Felix Cardigan

The dates may seem strange but we've found that meeting two weeks in a row and then spacing our other meetings out a little further gives everyone time to get their knitting done in between each class.

Masks will NOT be required for this class but are most certainly welcome.

A minimum of 3 participants is required for this class to run - bring a friend!

Skill Level: Beginner
Skill Details: Must know how to cast on, bind off, knit, purl, increase, and decrease
Requirements: See chosen pattern for materials needed for class
Instructor: Tracy
Instructor Bio: Tracy's been at Yarns in the Farms for over eight years now - how time flies. Her aunt taught her to knit when she was a teenager and she really only started making sweaters 5 or 6 years ago. Her annual Christmas hat tradition just keeps growing, which means she should really start knitting them in July but she still hasn't learned her lesson. Half her handknits can be found residing at the shop at any given time and someday her unfinished WIP bin will be empty (maybe?).
